Approaching Self Care

Self care By Sidney Ubiera

It's important to take care of ourselves physically and mentally. Especially in these tough times where the world might have us feeling down and hopeless. In times like these, it’s important to focus on the things we can control and one of those being selfcare. Finding a new hobby can be very beneficial because it can be a hobby we do when we’re feeling stressed. Even if it’s taking some time to focus less on school to do anything that makes us feel relaxed, binge watch a tv show or bake something. It’s easy to get caught up in things that have happened in the past that we wish we could change or things that are to happen in the future, which could take a toll on us mentally. Something we need to remember is that everything that has happened and is to happen, happens for a reason. We all need to take a moment to stop and breathe.

Things I do to take care of myself involve taking a nap when I'm feeling stressed, watch some of my favorite tv shows, and listen to music. When I think of self-care, I don't only think about taking care of myself physically but mentally. Ways that I take care of my mental health include reading books that allow me to take a break from reality and give myself positive self-talk.

I want us all to remember that we shouldn’t feel guilty for wanting to protect our energy and bodies. We are all strong young women and even if we might not always be feeling our best, it’s important to take care of ourselves. <3<3
